Arenas Del Mar

Arenas del Mar is boutique hotel located on a forested hillside above Playitas Beach. Direct beach access is a rarity in Coast Rica’s Central Pacific Coast, and Arenas del Mar has the added benefit of being surrounded by 11 acres of rainforest—habitat for sloths, monkeys, and colorful birds.

This private beach features dark sand, blue water and wild rainforest.

Accommodations

The 38 rooms and suites feature natural stone, native wood, private terraces, and large windows. Some upper category rooms add ocean views and jetted tubs. Each guestroom is furnished with a kitchenette, air conditioning, television, security box, mini-bar, bathrobes, slippers, and hairdryer. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Activities

From Playita–the little beach in front of the hotel–guests can can walk about a mile along Playa Espadilla to Manuel Antonio National Park. The park can also be reached by car in about 10 minutes. Manuel Antonio National Park is home to over 100 mammal species and even more birds.

This part of the Central Pacific Coast offers dozens of active adventure options. El Otro Lado

El Otro Lado is a private retreat on Panama’s Caribbean Coast located within Portobelo National Park, just across the bay from the historic town of Portobelo, Panama.

The resort has a world-class collection of rare Latin American music, which plays softly in the restaurant.

For an additional fee, the hotel can arrange fishing excursions (artisanal or sport fishing), cultural performances (dance performances, meetings with artisans), wildlife viewing, diving, snorkeling, and catamaran sailing.

This vibrant boutique hotel is a collection of four villas and three suites. Each is unique, but all are furnished with air conditioning, security box,

About 8,600 square feet, Casa Grande includes two floors with three suites.

The three suites are located on the second floor, each with its own identity surrounded by terraces and views of the jungle and bay.

Estancia Colome

Estancia Colome is a wine lodge located in near the high-desert town of Molinos, at roughly 8,000 feet above sea level—a five-hour drive from Salta. This hotel is one of our favorite hotels in Argentina.

The Colome wine estate surrounds the lodge, wrapping it in more than 25 acres of Malbec vines and lavender.

The lodge is constructed in the Spanish Colonial style, with candle-lit covered porches, adobe-hued walls, and red-tiled roof.

Accommodations 

The nine guest suites feature natural wood, leather armchairs, artisanal textiles, double vanities, separate shower and bath. Wi-Fi is available in the lodge’s public spaces. Guestrooms at Estancia Colome do not have televisions.

Adjacent to the main house is the James Turrell Museum. Opened in 2009 by collectors Ursula and Donald Hess, the museum is dedicated to the work of Mr.
Turrell—one of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists.

His work focused on light and space, and the museum is a collection of rooms exploring dimension, depth, light, and color.

Shoes are removed, and guests enter the exhibits. For many visitors, the impression is lasting and powerful.

Illa Experience Hotel

Deeply rooted in Quito history, Illa Hotel is located in the 400-year-old San Marcos neighborhood of the Centro Historico. This Colonial Era building dates to the 1700s.

Completely refurbished in 2017, the mansion’s historic elements include columns, arches, and decorative stonework. Due to the hotel’s classic character, each of the 10 rooms is unique.

Estancia Los Potreros

Estancia Los Potreros is a family-owned, 600-acre ranch is the rolling sierra outside Cordoba city and is one of our favorite hotels in Argentina. The estancia dates back to the 16th century and has been farmed by the Anglo-Argentine Begg family for more than a century.

This Cordoba hotel offers solitude, peace, and luxury of experience. The main house is filled with warmth and charm.

Lunches and dinners at Los Potreros are taken together at the estancia’s family table. Guests will get to indulge in traditional Argentine ‘asado’ or barbeque, freshly baked bread, and more.

The estancia makes its own grass-fed beef and organic vegetables, fruit and eggs.  The hotel also boasts some of the finest Argentine wines.

Activities 

A highlight of the estancia is the horseback riding. The horses and riding guides here are unmatched, with options for all skill levels. Owners Louisa and Kevin Begg make it a point to have each guest riding every day.
