The house is tucked into a beech grove in the heart of a 50,000-acre working cattle ranch—Cerro de los Pinos—founded in 1909. Gauchos still work the land, as their families have for three generations.
The Chimehuin and Quilquihue rivers frame the property with 17 miles of frontage; their crystal-clear waters are renowned for trout pools—home to monstrous browns up to 30 inches.
The nine cozy guest rooms are furnished with artisanal textiles, ceiling fans, and radiant heat. Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge as well as at the outdoor sitting areas.
The lodge features indoor and outdoor dining and seating areas, fireplace, lounge, honor bar, wood-fired sauna, Yoga, and a massage room.
Guides, gear, and drift boats for fly-fishing are available for any level of expertise; even beginners can hit it big here. Riding, biking, hiking, and wing shooting excursions are also available.

Kachi Lodge rests on the Uyuni Salt Flats, near Kachi Island and the Tunupa Volcano. The six geodesic domed guest rooms are linked to the main lodge dome by an elevated boardwalk.
The main dome serves a lounge, dining room, and bar. The wooden deck outside the dome has spaces for catching sun and gazing at the night sky.
The guest rooms at Kachi Lodge can be arranged with either one king or two full beds. The rooms are also furnished with bathrobes, and slippers, natural cotton linens.
Electrical outlets and USB ports are located near the bedside.
One side of the dome is transparent, and faces the salt flat.
Each dome has a private en suite bathroom with hot and cold water, vanity, shower, and flush toilet.
Heating is provided by eco-friendly wood pellet burning stoves. Air conditioning, telephones, and televisions are not part of the Kachi Lodge experience.
Kachi Lodge’s meals are provided in partnership with the award-winning Gustu Restaurant in La Paz. Kachi operates as a full-board lodge, with meals included and an open bar featuring Bolivia’s surprisingly diverse wines, beers, and spirits.
Members of the Gustu kitchen and service team provide a la carte breakfast, as well as multi-course lunches and dinners.
Gustu is also a member of the Melting Pot Bolivia Foundation, which is dedicated to driving gastronomic projects that aid vulnerable populations in improving their living conditions.
The Gustu team believes that the promotion of Bolivian products is key to furthering the nation’s distinct culinary identity.
Exploring Uyuni Salt Flats
The full-board program at Kachi includes privately guided touring in newer model Toyota Landcruisers.
