Hiram Bingham, a Belmond Train

The Hiram Bingham, a Belmond Train winds through the Peruvian Highlands from the Cusco area, into the Sacred Valley, and onward to the base of Machu Picchu. Passage on the train can be booked one-way or round-trip.

Train Interior

Evoking the classic style of Europe’s great railways from the 1920’s, the train is furnished with luxury armchairs, elegant table settings, and brass & hardwood accents.

Lounge Car

The lounge offers cocktails, local beers, light beverages, and canapés.  During the journey, traditional music from the Peruvian Highlands is performed.

Dining Cars

The Hiram Bingham Train’s dining cars offer assigned arm-chair and booth seating.

Multi-course meals — brunch en route to Machu Picchu and dinner on the return — are served on white tablecloths, with china and crystal. The menus offer a choice for each course. Vegetarian options are available.

Observation Car

The open-air Observation Car allows guests unobstructed views from the back of the train.

Journeys

The Belmond Hiram Bingham train operates daily, except for the last Sunday of each month.

Passage is available as a round trip or one-way. For the trip to Machu Picchu, guests can board near Cusco or in the Sacred Valley. On the return journey, guests can disembark in the Sacred Valley or travel to the Cusco area.

During the wet season months (usually December to March) a bi-modal service (train+charter bus) may be used to supplement part of the train journey.

Fare includes the bus ticket from Aguas Calientes Town to Machu Picchu aboard a bus chartered exclusively for Hiram Bingham guests.

As part of the journey to Machu Picchu, a group-basis tour of Machu Picchu (in the company of other Hiram Bingham guests) is included.

For the return trip, afternoon tea is served at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. Passengers also have access to the Aguas Caliente Train Station’s VIP Lounge.

Aboard the train to Machu Picchu, passengers can relax in the observation car and take in the landscapes. Brunch and beverages are served on this leg of the journey.

Upon arrival in the town of Aguas Calientes, guests will exit the train, walk through the market, and take a specially chartered bus to Machu Picchu and receive an entrance ticket.

A tour guide (bi-lingual in Spanish or English) will offer Hiram Bingham Train guests (usually up to 14 passengers per guide) a group-basis tour.

In the afternoon, passengers enjoy afternoon tea time at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, located just outside the national park’s gate.

Once back on the train, live music welcomes guests back in as they prepare for a multi-course dinner in the dining car.

Dinner includes local products like fresh trout, Peruvian sauce, salmon and wines. Vegetarian options are available.
