Casa Suaya

Casa Suaya: Hotel Boutique & Home Resort

Casa Suaya is located just outside the town of Jose Ignacio, on Uruguay’s eastern shore. The retreat offers direct access to Playa Brava. From here, you can bike to the center of town in about 10 minutes.

José Ignacio was once a fishing village. Now, it’s known internationally as low-key coastal retreat. Visitors are drawn to Jose Ignacio seasonally (primarily between November and February) by its world-class restaurants, nightlife, and easy elegance. Nearby, you’ll find vineyards, art studios, lagoons, and golden beaches.

Casa Suaya Location

Casa Suaya is located east of the Jose Ignacio Peninsula. This former fishing village has an estimated year-round population of 200, but it is now one of Latin America’s chicest beach destinations. Like Punta del Este, one side of this peninsula has gentle (mansa) waves, while the other (brava) is perfect for surfing.

Walking from one side of town to the other takes about five minutes, including time to pat a cart horse and admire the hand-painted street signs. On the eastern side of the peninsula, the town’s faro (lighthouse) has been guiding ships since 1877.

Casa Suaya can be reached in about 50 minutes by road from Punta del Este’s international airport. Montevideo’s airport is approximately 90 minutes to the west. Uruguay is known for it’s excellent roads. LANDED arranges car rentals and private land (or helicopter) transfers in Uruguay.
