The villas at Montemar are located in a 43-acres private property in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island. The property is located approximately one hour away (by road and ferry) from Baltra airport (GPS) and approximately 20 minutes by road from the southern coast town of Puerto Ayora. This Goldilocks location in the cool highlands, allows access to both ports, tortoise reserves, and some of the island’s top volcanic features.
The property is pastoral. Organic coffee grows in the shade, horses graze, and giant tortoises wallow in the shallow ponds. Montemar attracts and sustains a wide range of endemic flora and fauna.
These fully sustainable villas were born out of the love for protecting the natural habitat of the Galapagos Giant Tortoise. Montemar is part of the ‘Galapagos Tortoise Movement Ecology Programme’ that supports research of Giant Tortoises.
The properties produce most of their own energy and harvest rainwater, reducing their environmental impact.
